my story
make waves, not ripples
When I was 23 years old, I moved to Europe from California.
Little did I know that the transition would lead me in a different career direction from my early nonprofit roots. When I came to Berlin, I dived head first into the startup community working in B2B software.
But three years ago, I started having this internal tug, telling me that I wasn’t fulfilling my true purpose.
I started working with one green startup (and then another), and then I realized that this space (green solutions/marketing) was somewhere that I wanted to be.
But is your work with green brands truly saving the planet?
At the end of 2022, I asked myself this question and thought there could be more to it. In early 2023, I completed the Sustainable Marketing, Media, and Creative course from the University of Cambridge CISL, and this course opened my eyes to a new way of thinking.
It’s not just about ‘marketing sustainable’ products with traditional, business-as-usual notions. It’s a transformation of the marketing role; taking ownership of our ability to influence change and using messages and creativity to build a fairer, cleaner, and better future for people and the planet.
That’s where I am now; trying to define what it means to be a sustainable marketer.
The climate transition isn’t possible, without a drastic change in communication.
Over the last two years, I’ve been making the steady transition to pursuing a more purpose-driven career for people and the planet.
It started with transitioning my B2B thought leadership content agency, MTC | The Content Agency, into an impact-focused content agency.
My purpose drive my work at MTC but to achieve my purpose, it will take more than standard marketing practices.
I’m on a mission to reshape marketing to be people and planet-first. In order to do that, we will need to understand what the modern role of the marketer will be.
On this website, you will learn what it means to be an ecomarketer.
